Man You Make Me Feel Like A Woman

When I heard it was Shania Twain night, I cringed, One whole hour of girl country songs. That was before the show started. After, I realized that Shania has crossed over to the "good" side. Shania is a Canadian and is that country's 2nd best-selling artist behind Celine Dion. Shania is an Ojibwa (Cippewa) word meaning "on my way". She has an amazing voice, is a great song writer and a pretty hot chick, if you're into that sort of thing.

OK let's get started, how did it go tonight:

1. Siobhan Magnus was told to put some attitude in the lyrics, I got that attitude, and you know I hate country, but tonight this worked for me. Not sure I'm ready for Siobhan to declare me one her "Any Man Of Mine", but it was loud, and fun. The first week I started watching, Shibhan was my favorite but in the past few weeks, she has slipped. She's back.

2. Crystal Bowersox was a little too country for me, but her voice is amazing. And who am I to judge? for many years I lived the name of the song "No One Needs to Know". Crystal did give it to the judges by declaring bigger isn't always better. Actually this is what I've been trying to tell guys for years.

3. Casey James seems to enjoy singing to the laps of the female audience. His rendition "Don't" were making the ladies think" are you sure? come on just this once. He was rewarded with a kiss from Shania.

4. Lee DwWyze would have been my number 3 choice this week, if he'd lighten up and smile. But, Lee "You're Still The One", oh I mean 4 this week.

5. Aaron Kelly was a little smaltzy taking a clue from Crystal last week. Hopefully for him the tears for his mother will get some votes. He sang "You Got A Way", Sorry Aaron, you're still sitting at the kids table, someday you may find the way to the adult table.

6. Big Mike had me disagreeing with the judges. I did not think of Luther Vandeross while he was singing. Instead it reminded me of that nasty little girl on Little House on the Prairie. I think her name was Nellie. If you get my gist. "It Only Hurts When I'm Breathing", that about says it all. I'm still breathing, but I still hurt.

Bottom line: Another boy goes home tonight. And I've become a Shania Twain fan, or I'm shania for Shania Twain.

Inspire Me

Tonight was inspiration night. The contestents were to sing a song that inspired them. Some of the selections made no sense to me. But it's their inspiration not mine. So How did they do?

In last place was

7. Tim Urban. He was inspired by Goo Goo Dolls "Better Days". Well let's just be kind and say Tim has seen better days, (last week). But on the bright side he has earned his spot back on VFTW - the weird website telling everyone to vote for the worst.

6. AAron Kelly singing "I Believe I Can Fly". It was cheesy in the 70's and Aaron made it more so tonight. Aaron better start believing in something else besides flying. He better hope and believe that there are enough 16 year old girls out there that will still vote for him.

5. Casey James decided that he was inspired by "Don't Stop". Halfway thru, I was yelling Please Stop. So he's definitely not thinking about tomorrow. That's good because he may not have a tomorrow.

4. Siobhan Magnus was very lucky that 3 boys were worse than she was. She sang "When You Believe", she will need more than beliefs. I've mentioned this every year. NEVER sing a Meriah Carey song on American Idol. Trust me, you can't do it.

3. Mike Lynch did an interesting rendition of "Hero". One of the lines from the song is Heaven Don't Hear Me. I believe Heaven will hear him tonight.

2. Lee Dewyze finally sang an inspirational song. Simon and Garfunkle's "The Boxer" sounded like it was written for him. He updated it without ruining it. To paraphrase the song, Lee you are a fighter and you will remain.

1. OMG, I totally started crying when Crystal broke up singing "People Get Ready". Inspiration means it moves you. The whole country was inspired tonight by Crystal Bowersox. Listen to the words, People Get Ready, Crystal will be with us for a long time.

Bottom line another boy goes home tonight.

Heartbreak Hotel

Tonight was Elvis night with Adam Lambert as the guest mentor. I thought it was interesting that they sat a girl next to Adam in the audience. I guess that was FOX's way of not having him start making out in the middle of the show.

This past week the contestants went to Las Vegas to practice. I think that's funny as half of them aren't even legal to be in the casinos. Does Vegas really need anymore Elvis impersonators? Which Idol is ready to open in the big room? and which will be performing weddings in the Chapel?

Tonight it was easy to choose the top 2 and the final 2. The rest were bunched up in the middle. Remember this week, 2 are voted off. It's really too bad 8 weren't voted off so we could move on with our lives.

1. Crystal Bowersox - she is amazing. If the IDOL gods are fair, she will win this year. She sang Saved, she won't need it tonight.

2. Tim Urban - he is the cutest guy this year. He's been known as Teflon Tim. I don't care, tonight he had me singing I Can't Help Falling In Love With Tim.

3. Katie Stevens - she was hot asking Baby What Do You Want Me To Do? Let's just let our imaginations take over now. . .

4. Lee DeWyze - should listen to the title A Little Less Conversation. Actually I wish he would pay more attention to the last line of the song Come On and Satisfy Me.

5. Siobhar Magnus - I think the judges have Suspicious Minds, I disagree with them. I liked the updated version of this song.

6. Michael Lynch - we just knew that he would choose In the Ghetto. It was OK, he got the notes right, but it lacked a passion that Michael really could have delivered to this song.

7. Casy James - I don't like his hair pulled back. I don't like Lawdy Miss Clawdy.

8. Aaron Kelly - A 12 year old singing Elvis? Sorry it just didn't do it for me. Hearing him sing Blue Suade Shoes, was like watching 8 year old girls participate in beauty paegents. There's just something wrong with it.

9. Andrew Garcia - Singing Hound Dog. The whole performance was a dog. Sorry Andrew, tonight, You ain't no friend of mine.

Let it Be

Tonight is Lennon/McCartney night. Together they did more than 35 songs. Wow! what can I say? The Beatles night on American Idol has historically been the turning point in the competition.

So how did everyone do? Was it a Hards Day Night? or a Ticket Ride to Ride?

Aaron, our preschool favorite. He did a Long and Winding Road. Not his best. Big song by a little guy. But there's going to be a lot worse than this tonight. Will be around another week. Preschoolers and their teachers love him.

Katie, I haven't watched before the final 10. People talk about how bad she is. I love her. She did Let It Be. She was smart not to change it up too much. I liked it very much.

Andrew - Can't Buy Me Love - this is where I've gone wrong for a few years. I've tried to buy it, with no luck. I have to say Andrew had no luck either. This was not good. He's trying to buy it instead of earn it.

Michael - doing Elenor Rigby one of my favorite songs ever. He was amazing. This was one of the few Beatles songs that it's OK to change it up a little. This was hot. It was incredible. It takes big balls to change up a Beatles song.

Crystal - people that have been watching all season sent me texts that she is the best. "Come Together," this is what I have been telling my dates for years, but I digress, this was hot. She jazzed it up and it worked. Tonight I agree with the texts. It was sexy and very up to date.

Tim - All My Lovin - OK, he is cute. And in prior years, a smile and sexy eyes would have got you a long way. Tim has gone further than anyone would have imagined. I've mentioned Trey before. Some of you know him. Anyway I mention him because his mom now texts. What I'm saying is that in prior years on American Idol only 15 year old girls were texting. Now Trey's mom is texting. So I'd say even though it was OK tonight, Trey's mom now texts, I'd say he's gone tonight. Of course I'm assuming that Trey's mom is watching American Idol, and she votes, AND she isn't turned on by 15 year old really HOT boys.

Casey - the total opposite of Tim. I always get a crush on someone every year and this year it's Casey, but I have to be totally unbiased. His rendition of Jealous Guy was totally amazing. Not ashamed to say I am a Jealous Guy. And by the way did you see his eyes?

Siobhan - Across the Universe. It was beautiful. But I'm not sure the voters were awake to vote. She looked good tonight. Friends who have been watching all year tell me she is really good. I did like her tonight, but it was kind of boring. But way better than last week.

Lee - Hey Jude. You can't type the words without singing along. He took command of the song and the stage. Not his best performance. He might be in the bottom 3 tonight.

My choice for bottom 3 are:
Lee
Andrew
Tim

A boy goes home tonight.

It actually is getting better - I can see 3 or 4 of these people being the American Idol. This means they are all stepping up. Tonight when the results come in I think we are going to be surprised. Unless Tim gets voted off, I think the judges will veto the vote and let the looser in for another week.

Until Next Time - Wise OUT
