Dolly Parton on Helium
It's time to start the torture of me writing and you reading my weekly American Idol blog. This is my 4th year of writing the blog. I'm hoping most of you aren't actually watching this year. Everything you need to know you can learn from the blog. Nationally viewership is down 9% from last year. Only 91% more and we can all stop this annual nonsense. Oh sure, American Idol is still a ratings winner, but look at the competition: "Wife Swap" - come on!! Maybe because of the writers strike, people have found other things to do besides watch awful TV.
Tonight was John Lennon/Paul McCartney night. I didn't see Yoko Ono in the audience, but rumor has it she already has a favorite. She is pulling for David Archuleta after his rendition of "Imagine" in an earlier round. You may agree with Yoko, but remember this is American Idol. I know a few people who have refused to watch any more because Melinda Doolittle didn't win last year. My opinions start tonight as I don't watch any of the pre shows. I also don't comment on anyone this early unless they are really exceptional or extremely bad. So hold on to your hats, be ready for some disappointment, because another year of American Idol begins right now:
My favorites after tonights performance:
1. Chikezie Eze -wow loved the transition from rock-a-billy to edgy rock.
2. Amanda Overmeyer
3. David Cook
4. Carly Smithson
5. Brook White
6. Seyesha Mercado
7. Jason Castro
8. Michael Johns
9. David Hernandez
10. David Archuleta
11. Ramiele Malubay
12. Kristy Lee Cook - Ok always be leery of anyone with 3 names. John Lennon is turning in his grave and it's a good thing that Paul McCartney's lawyers are busy handling his divorce because there are grounds for a lawsuit. Simon was right on: Dolly Parton on helium. If Kristy Lee Cook remains on the show, Wife Swap actually might have a chance in the ratings war.
I only predict them from the current weeks performance. This is not my actual prediction for American Idol #7. Currently I have no prediction, I do think that the boys overall are stronger than the girls. Totally different than last year.
Remember the names, one of these will be your American Idol. I'm sure from now until May when this is over, there will be much discussion over the water cooler.
Last year, we actually had one person (Tim Moreton) after the first week correctly predict Jordin Sparks to win. So I guess I will take comments with your predictions. Predictions for the contest will only be accepted until the beginning of next weeks show. If you win, and American Idol is on next year AND I do a blog, your name will be mentioned.
OK Let the game begin!
Until Next Week - Wise OUT
