Goodbye Eddie Munster's Mom

For the second week in a row, you are almost gettting it right. The bottom feeders are leaving the show. Last week you voted off Yvonne De Carlo look alike Amanda Overmayer. Go ahead and google Yvonne and tell me they don't look alike. We now just need to get rid of Kristy Lee Cook, to have a real competition. I did notice that Vote for the Worst is pleading with everyone to vote for Kristy Lee. Remember this is the organization that managed Sanjaya's campaign to keep him on the show for several weeks past his expiration date.

Tonight was "Music From the Year You Were Born". Another 80's night! well not quite, David Archuleta was born in 1990!! Interesting concept, go to www.discjockey.org/topsongs.html and find songs from the year you were born.

These are your top ten, this means they will be traveling around the country in concert this fall. So how entertaining was the "year you were born" show?

1. David Cook, very original arrangement and the most talented of the bunch.
2. Michael Johns, anyone doing Queen is going to be in my top 3. I don't think he quite did them justice but up to this point in the show, I was dozing off. He woke me up.
3. Syesha Mercado, I was hoping for a better performance, but I do like the song.
4. Jason Castro, as much as I love his eyes, and Sting, he needs to break away from the ballad crap, it's getting old.
5. Brooke White, I used to like this song, but it was the worst arrangement of "Every Breath You Take", that I've ever heard. Makes you want to just stop breathing.
6. David Archuleta, I just don't get what all the hoopla was about this kid. Tonight, at his age, he probably could have chosen a song still on the top 40, but he chooses something no one has ever heard before. His voice seems OK, but not good enough for everyone to be betting on him to win.
7. Carly Smithson, it was OK but I have to tell you. I was at the Crescent on Capital Hill last weekend at "Sing Along Karoke". A drunk girl actually did this same song better than Carly.
8. Chikezie's "If Only One Night", actually felt like an eternity.
9. Ramele Malubay doing "How Will I Get You Alone", made me wish she would have stayed alone. Sure she was sick, but she shouldn't have exposed us to that!
10. Kristie Lee Cook - this was the lowest point in American Idol history. A no talent blonde bimbo playing the patriotic card. Sounds just like a Republican. Simon had it right, good song selection, because she would have gone home if she hadn't done something like this. God, if you are going to bless anyone, bless those of us that have to listen to her every week.

I honestly don't remember the 80's being this boring. I for one, am so excited that these are the ten that will be performing in Tacoma this September I can hardly wait to pack up the mini van and travel down there to see this. It's either the concert or a root canal. I'll let you know next year which one I chose.

Until Next Week - Wise OUT

Strippers and Red High Heels

Last week you eliminated David Hernandez. He wasn't the worst but definitely near the bottom. I hated to see him go, being a stripper, there was a lot of potential blog material. I was looking forward to "stripper pole" night on American Idol. Now if we want to see David, we will have to go to the clubs in Phoenix. If you do make the trip down there, I need to warn you: If you put a $20 bill down his g-string, DON'T go fishing for change. Trust me, that will get you kicked out of the club.

This is the second week of Beatles songs. Did they all just become available? Six years of American Idol and we've never had a Beatles night. Now we get two in a row? Does Michael Jackson still own these? Maybe this is how he saved Neverland from foreclosure.

FOX has a well deserved reputation for bringing us the lowest levels of trash television. I swear when you move into the mobile home park, the only station you get from your satellite dish is FOX. In spite of Kristy Lee Cook, they decided they needed to dumb down this years show even more. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Kellie Pickler and "Red High Heels". You heard me right, she will be performing (if that's what it's called) on tonights results show. There goes any other plans I had for a Wednesday night.

OK here's my take on Beatle's Part II.

1. Jason Castro, he has the voice and the eyes, I could take him home and have him sing French songs to me all night long. But I digress, he really was the best tonight.

2. David Cook

3. David Archuleta, getting better but I still haven't seen anything that makes me just want to crown him the automatic winner.

4. Carly Smithson

5. Brooke White

6. Sayesha Mercado

7. Ramiele Malubay

8. Michael Jones

9. Chikezie Eze, a disappointment for me tonight. I expected better.

10. Amanda Overmyer

11. Kristy Lee Cook doing "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away", if she stays one more week, we will all be looking for somewhere to hide.

OK there it is, my unbiased opinion. Between Kristy Lee and Kellie Pickler, I think I will grab a fistfull of dollars and head on down to Phoenix.

Until Next Week - Wise OUT.

Dolly Parton on Helium

It's time to start the torture of me writing and you reading my weekly American Idol blog. This is my 4th year of writing the blog. I'm hoping most of you aren't actually watching this year. Everything you need to know you can learn from the blog. Nationally viewership is down 9% from last year. Only 91% more and we can all stop this annual nonsense. Oh sure, American Idol is still a ratings winner, but look at the competition: "Wife Swap" - come on!! Maybe because of the writers strike, people have found other things to do besides watch awful TV.

Tonight was John Lennon/Paul McCartney night. I didn't see Yoko Ono in the audience, but rumor has it she already has a favorite. She is pulling for David Archuleta after his rendition of "Imagine" in an earlier round. You may agree with Yoko, but remember this is American Idol. I know a few people who have refused to watch any more because Melinda Doolittle didn't win last year. My opinions start tonight as I don't watch any of the pre shows. I also don't comment on anyone this early unless they are really exceptional or extremely bad. So hold on to your hats, be ready for some disappointment, because another year of American Idol begins right now:

My favorites after tonights performance:
1. Chikezie Eze -wow loved the transition from rock-a-billy to edgy rock.
2. Amanda Overmeyer
3. David Cook
4. Carly Smithson
5. Brook White
6. Seyesha Mercado
7. Jason Castro
8. Michael Johns
9. David Hernandez
10. David Archuleta
11. Ramiele Malubay
12. Kristy Lee Cook - Ok always be leery of anyone with 3 names. John Lennon is turning in his grave and it's a good thing that Paul McCartney's lawyers are busy handling his divorce because there are grounds for a lawsuit. Simon was right on: Dolly Parton on helium. If Kristy Lee Cook remains on the show, Wife Swap actually might have a chance in the ratings war.

I only predict them from the current weeks performance. This is not my actual prediction for American Idol #7. Currently I have no prediction, I do think that the boys overall are stronger than the girls. Totally different than last year.

Remember the names, one of these will be your American Idol. I'm sure from now until May when this is over, there will be much discussion over the water cooler.

Last year, we actually had one person (Tim Moreton) after the first week correctly predict Jordin Sparks to win. So I guess I will take comments with your predictions. Predictions for the contest will only be accepted until the beginning of next weeks show. If you win, and American Idol is on next year AND I do a blog, your name will be mentioned.

OK Let the game begin!
