All Winners

If this was your first year you are very fortunate. For one thing it means you have only had the addiction for a few months. For another you were treated to the most entertaining year yet. Last season the talent was so bad, FOX had to plant stories about the judges to keep us coming back. This year the judges have been fairly quiet, that is until this past weekend. I guess FOX thought they would lose some of the audience with the exit of Melinda. So today we get a press release from Paula's spokesman. (I want a spokesman).

It seems she tripped while trying not to step on her pet chihuahua. She broke her nose. So now we will all watch just to see her nose. It would have been more entertaining and brought more ratings, if she would have actually stepped on and killed her dog. We could have had the folks at PITA calling her a "dog murderer". Now that would have been good television. But alas we didn't get any dead animals, just tonights final show and a broken nose.

Both contestants deserve to be in the finals. Tonight they provided solid performances. But it was as though they both ran out of energy. They were good, but nothing that made you scream at the TV "Holy s***", it was OK. Better than watching other crap on television.
If I had to guess, I'd say Blake in a close one, but don't listen to me. At the beginning I predicted Jordin to come in fourth and Blake to finish sixth. Congratulations to them both.

Now it's time for us all to go to rehab. American Idol is my drug of choice, but I know many of you are versatile. You may also get your kicks from Dances With the Stars, Survivor, the Bachelor, or any number of the other trashy shows. Hopefully it's not more than one or two.

Here is my annual "pleading with you" message. Stop the madness, if you can. In the next few months we will have the chance to live through something important. "Mitt or Rudi? Obama or Hillary?" When I started writing the blog this year, gasoline was about $2.50 a gallon and there were 256 American soldiers still alive, that are no longer with us. Stop watching life and start participating. Get your fat ass off the couch and start making a difference. On Thursday will it really matter who is the IDOL? Blake or Jordin? No, but in January 2009 it will matter who will lead us. We can all become American Idols, we just need to get involved.

If my 12-step program is successful this summer, this will be my last American Idol blog ever. If not...

And Then There Were 3

There has never been 3 more deserving people in the final 3 of American Idol. Anyone of these fine people could win and I would be happy.
No smart ass comments today. These 3 don't deserve it. This week the finalists visited their home cities, and had to rehearse 3 songs instead of 2. It was a short and emotional week for each of them. But that's what we are looking for. A real professional.

The first song was selected by the judges, the second by the producers (they probably get royalties or somehow make money) and the third song selected by the performers.

From Glendale, Arizona, Simon selected "Wishing on a Star" for Jordin.

From Bothell, Washington, Paula selected "Roxanne" for Blake.

From Nashville, Tennessee, Randy selected "I Believe in You and Me" for Melinda.

First round goes to Melinda followed by Jordin.

The producers chose "She Works Hard for the Money" for Jordin.
Then they chose "This Love" for Blake.
To close out the producers choices, Melinda sang "NutBush City Lights".

Second round goes to Melinda followed by Blake.

For their final number, Jordin selected "I Who Have Nothing". Blake sang "When I Get You Alone" and Melinda ended the show with "I'm a Woman".

Third round goes to Melinda followed by a tie.

OK folks, its almost over we've to come to love these folks. I really have no opinion this week. It's up to you.

Jordin has become the most improved. She's developed into a professional and will be a great recording artist.
Blake is the most original performer ever on Idol. He's got the looks, the talent and the personality to go far.
Melinda has been the most consistent contestant. Her personality hasn't come out until the last few weeks. She's hot.

I think because of the demographics of the voters and this weeks show, the two finalists will be Melinda and Blake. But let's see how the votes fall.

Again, good season and good week.

Until Next Week - Wise OUT.

I Started A Joke

It's been quite a week. First of all the Bon Jovi song that's been going thru your head has finally left. Paris Hilton is going to jail, and for the first time in American Idol history, the best 4 contestants have made it to the final 4.

It's also the Brothers Gibb (Bee Gees) week. Over 50 years of pop music. Everyone, I mean everyone reading this grew up with some sort of a Barry Gibbs song. A few facts, the youngest Gibb, Andy though not really a member of the Bee Gee's died in 1988. Brother, Maurice died in 2003. The Bee Gee's have sold more than 180 million albums and singles. So don't even pretend that you won't be humming some Barry Gibb's classic all week.

Let's see how this week compares to last weeks, most entertaining show of the year.

Melinda started it out by singing "Loving You Inside and Out". She always sings well, but this song had nothing special.
Blake sang "You Should Be Dancing". The only good part of this performance was his beat boxing. He should have just danced and not sang.
Lakisha tried "Stayin Alive". OK this is one of those songs that you can't help but jump up and start dancing. But for some reason Lakisha slowed it down. Like Simon said, "No Kiss Tonight".
Jordin was last and it was up to her to save the night. Her rendition of "To Love Somebody", I can only repeat what Barry Gibb said, "We've all heard this song a million times, but NEVER this good".

After the first round, it was definitely Jordin in first place.

Second round started by Melinda asking "How Can You Mend A Broken Heart?" she was superstitious and left out the line "How Can A Looser Ever Win?", but she's not a looser, at the end of the song, she showed why she is in the top 4.
Blake sang a song that nobody had ever heard before, "This Is Where I Came In". He needed a big second song, but he didn't do it.
Lakish taunted us with "Run To Me". Tonight we are running back to Lakisha. She wisely chose 2 songs that we are familiar with and if she returns next week it's because we liked both songs.
Jordin ended the night with Barbara Streisand's "Woman In Love". She was off, it's too bad because up to now tonight was hers.

Second round I give to Melinda.

Tonight Blake should have excelled. He is the only male left in the competition and tonight it was the Bee Gee's. Boy doing boys, this should have been a hot night for him and us. But he fell flat. Any of these 4 could and should be the American Idol, so I can't be upset by the voting from now on. But based on tonights show, Blake should go home.

Now all we have to worry about is whether Pairs will get a pardon from the governor.

Until next week - Wise Out.

Bon Jovi woo hoo

In typical FOX fashion last weeks show was a complete sham. Is there anything real about FOX? Ryan kept teasing us all marathon long Wednesday night by saying it was "the most shocking result in IDOL history". Then one by one everyone was safe except Jordin. She was in tears and all of America was shocked. Then Ryan tells us, just kidding, no one would be voted off on the Special IDOLS Gives Back Night. What a waste of our time.

It's no secret IDOL wants Jordin in the finals. She's good but hardly worth the weekly praise we get from the 3 judges. Because of last week, we all now feel sorry for Jordin and will vote for her this week. We are being manipulated by FOX. You notice FOX put their favorite politician on the IDOL show? Cheer leading for both Jordin and President Bush. I think I'm going to throw up.

Bon Jovi week, it doesn't get much better than this. I was so excited when I heard he was going to be on IDOL. I saw him live in the Tacoma Dome. Oh my god, it was great. He still has a great look. Stop thinking you are too cool to appreciate Bon Jovi. Face it, if you still had one ounce of coolness left in that body of yours, you wouldn't be watching American Idol and you certainly wouldn't be reading this blog.

So how did the contestants do? Remember 2 of them are going home. Makes you wonder why 5 can't go home, so it would end our misery and addiction.

First up, Phil, of course if there's any justice he's going home because of his performance last week. Anyway this was Phil's best night ever. Fitting song: Going Down in a "Blaze of Glory".

Jordin has America's ear this week, but she blew it. Living on a Prayer, It will take all the sympathy and prayer to not send her packing.

Lakisha proved she's back after 2 subpar weeks. Her "Ain't A Love Song" was terrific. Lakisha, You Ain't wrong. That was right on.

Blake gambled by doing a very original version of "You Gave Love A Bad Name". It's hard when you change a classic. But he was hot. Love the new hair, love the beat boxing sound. It's very rare we see anything original on American Idol.

Chris, like Phil had his best performance of the year. Very very late, though. He sang "Dead or Alive", my bet is DEAD.

Melinda had never ever sang rock before. She did "Have A Nice Day". She showed us why she is the American Idol 2007. She showed a little attitude. WOW this was beyond words.

My favorites tonight, Their name and the place I predicted in the first week:
1. Melinda - 1
2. Blake - 6
3. Lakisha - 2
4. Phil - 9
5. Chris - 10
6. Jordin - 4

My prediction is the two bottom this week will be Phil and Chris

Sanjaya - 12 voted week 6
Haley - 8 voted off week 5
Gina - 5 voted off week 4
Chris Sligh - 7 voted off week 3
Stephanie - 3 voted off week 2
Brandon - 11 voted off week 1

I admit I love Bon Jovi and all my coolness has turned to fat. I'm even thinking of growing my hair back into a shag. I guess, I too am living on a Wing and A Prayer.
